The Creator

The Journal Junkies brand and journaling system was created by Rev Alistair Kent and launched in the Summer of 2009. Alistair is an accredited Minister with the AOG in the United Kingdom and as well as launching Journal Junkies, he runs his own business that incorporates Kent Kreations and Your Church On The Web. Alistair has two children (Chloe & Caleb) and is married to Kate. They are both the Senior Leaders of The Rock Church in West Bridgford, Nottingham.

How it all came about

Alistair was inspired by a sermon series on 'intimacy with God'. One aspect that caught his attention was the practice of journaling. He always saw journaling as a bit legalistic, not really understanding the benefits that accompanied the practice. As a result, all previous attempts to journal, both on his PC and using a blank notebook were fairly unsuccessful, not reaching any serious levels of sustainability. But with a fresh impetus and stirring in his spirit to pursue God at a new level, he went on a search for a notebook specifically made for Christians that would guide him through a system of journaling.  After much searching online he only actually found one such journal available - and that had to be shipped from the other side of the world!

Taking into consideration his skills in graphic design and experience in the printing industry, Alistair thought to himself, 'I could produce a specific journal for myself''! A few days later Alistair was journaling using a system that incorporates Bible reading, reflection and prayer - all on a few photocopied sheets folded and stapled together. Before he knew it he was reaping the benefits of using the journal, so much so that he printed out a few extra copies for some close friends to use and try out. It wasn't long before several others caught wind of the journal and requested a copy. It was at this point that Alistair took the decision to develop the journal to incorporate a prayer guide, accommodate sermon notes and highlight other Christian practices the can be recorded and tracked. One thing led to another and as well as professionally printing the journal, the website you now see was developed, with online sales starting to come in through the online shop. Interest in the journals continues to increase to this day, so much so that an online version of the journaling system has now been developed.
